Equine Acquisitions - Quality Horses Available for Sale
F.A.Q.'s
We don't sell kids horses, period. ALL horses can be dangerous. We don't presume to evaluate if any horse is suitable for a child because all children have different riding abilities and confidence levels. We encourage any parent looking to buy one of our horses for their child to come out and look at and ride the horse and determine the horse's suitability for THEIR child for themselves.
As a general rule we do not like to offer trial periods... but there are two very specific ways this can occur. You are free to ask but realize that in 99% of all cases for 99% of all horses, our answer will be no.
Certainly! We have sold a few horses this way. We are willing to gather any additional conformation photos you need. You are also more than welcome to have a veterinarian examine the horses health, soundness, and disposition. We pride ourselves on accurate descriptions and our videos answer most major questions. Although we'd love for you to come out and see the horse you are certainly welcome to purchase the horse without seeing it.
First deposit gets the horse, period. It doesn't matter to us if you REALLY like the horse but can't make it out till the next day to give us the deposit. If you came in the morning and a buyer comes that evening with cash/check in hand for the deposit, they get the horse. We have lost too many potential sales “holding” horses for people who “REALLY” wanted the horse and then changed their mind a day or two later.
Deposits on horses are NON-REFUNDABLE unless the horse does not pass a veterinary exam. When you place a deposit on a horse we take it off the market, pull advertisements, and/or notify all callers that we have a sale pending. Your “changing your mind” could potentially cost us a sale. You are welcome to back out of the sale for any reason you choose but we WILL retain your deposit. If you are not sure, don't put a deposit on the horse.
We don't normally have a vet check our horses unless we think something is wrong. We provide all routine care, including vaccinations, ourself. If, in our opinion, the horse is sound we advertise it as such. If, in our opinion, the horse is not, we will tell you. The vast majority of our horses are sound and we expect them to pass a vet check. We don't like unsound horses and assume you don't either. The last thing we need is for you to get home and not be happy with your purchase. No sale will make or break us but if we don't stand by our reputation of honesty, it will. You can feel free to evaluate the horse yourself. You are also ALWAYS free to get a vet check on any horse.
In general, all of our riding horses will have at least one video posted and available on our site at the time of advertisement. Occasionally there is a delay. E-mail us if you are interested and we will try and get you an estimated date when it will be available.
If the ad says he doesn't, then we have NEVER observed the horse cribbing or weaving. If we observe a horse crib or weave we will tell you and we will add this information to the bill of sale noting that you have full knowledge that the horse exhibits the behavior. In general we try to avoid buying, and therefore, selling horses with vices.
In general yes. Only for horses within 100 miles. You can e-mail us a picture. We will expect to be able to come out and ride your horse on one or more occasions to evaluate it. After it has been evaluated we will offer you a dollar amount discount off the horse we are currently selling. Very rarely will we consider the horse you offer us to be of equal value to the horse we are selling. If it were, you probably wouldn't be trading it...or looking for a new horse...anyways. As a general rule we do not take unstarted horses as trade-ins but there are some exceptions. If you are advertising your horse for $1,500 and expect an even trade for the horse we are advertising at $4,000.00 ...you can bet we won't be offering you an even-trade. Most of the time you will not like the dollar value we assign to your horse. You are welcome to your opinion and likewise, we have ours. You are never under obligation to trade your horse for any dollar amount and you can always make a cash offer on one of ours.
If you are under 18 we REQUIRE that at least one parent / guardian be present at the time of sale to sign the Bill of Sale/Purchase Agreement and make payment. That parent / guardian may make payment via check from their own account. If you are over 18 payment must come from you. We will not accept payment from a third party even if the check is made out directly to us. YOU are purchasing the horse, YOU are signing the Bill of Sale, YOU must tender payment in the form of cash or a check from YOUR personal account. If your mother / father / grandpa / _______ wishes to buy the horse for you, they can either provide you with the funds or they can purchase the horse directly from us signing all required documentation themselves.
Please read our ads and watch our videos before calling with questions. We try to give a detailed general description including answers to the most commonly asked questions. In addition, our videos typically most major under saddle questions you might have about the horse. If you call and ask questions that have already been answered on our website via video or text we will refer you there.
As a general rule we DO NOT change the wording in our contracts. If something was ommitted, we can certainly try and add it or if something is incorrect we will fix it but we do not change the intrinsic terms of our agreement. If you are not sure about signing our agreements or are uncertain of any of the terms, a copy of the bill of sale can be provided to you prior to purchase for review by anyone whom you see fit. We would like to iterate that you are never under any obligation to purchase.
No...but you can purchase it from us. In general this will run you anywhere from $90.00 - $220 ($30 - 90 for the headstall, $30-80 for the bit, and $30 - $50 for the reins). We only accept cash or pre-payment for tack. Yes, the tack is used but we will charge you what it will cost us to go to the store and replace the set. It is generally better if you make a trip to the local tack store where you can pick up a NEW complete set, in the leather style that suits your preference, for the same price or cheaper.
We really prefer you come see the horse. We will make exceptions for out of state and long-distance buyers however, if you need more information on a horses temperament, conformation, or training we encourage you to come see the horse and make any further evaluations yourself.
